Some of the finest vistas on the vista-rich Oregon coast can be found along the Three Capes Scenic Drive between Tillamook and Nestucca bays, where busy Highway 101 dips inland as this slower-paced route fronts the ocean. The bold basalt headlands for which the drive is named are, from north to south, Cape Meares, Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda. Hiking off the scenic drive brings you deep into temperate rain forest and along cliffs, tidepools and beach flats, with gray whales, giant trees and raucous seabirds among the company.
